Liam Smith and Anthony Fowler are set to face off in Liverpool this weekend.
Former WBO light–middleweight champion Smith is to take on his fellow Liverpudlian on a
stacked card in the pair’s home city.
Liam Smith and Anthony Fowler go head–to–head in a huge fight on Merseyside.
Smith (29–3–1, 16 KO) is looking to bounce back from a controversial defeat in Russia against
Magomed Kurbanov in May.
Fowler (15–1, 12 KO), meanwhile, has won six in a row since an upset loss by split decision to
Scott Fitzgerald in 2019.
It’s set to be a hard–hitting night on Merseyside when Liam Smith (29–3–1) takes on Anthony
Fowler (15–1) in the ‘Battle of Liverpool’ which sees the north and south side of the city go
head–to–head.
Fowler’s latest outing was at this year’s Fight Camp where he produced an eighth–round

stoppage win against Germany’s Rico Mueller to set–up this clash with Smith.
Fowler has admitted that this upcoming fight is a risk. Smith is an experienced operator who
has held a world title at light–middleweight and has shared the ring with boxing’s pound–forpound
number one Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
However, while a win for Fowler might kickstart his road towards a world title shot, a loss for
Smith could spell the end of his aspirations at the top of the game.
Whoever is victorious will have re–ignited their career, but will also give their respective side of
the city the all–important bragging rights.

This super–welterweight fight will take place on Saturday, October 9.
It is being held at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool.
The ring walks for the 12–round contest are expected at around 10pm.
