Headlining a fight card of five heavyweight matches, Wilder vs Fury 3 will have the world’s attention on the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Of course, every finale has its build-up, and after the result of the first two editions of this fight, everyone saw this one coming again.
Who Won the First Two Fights Between Fury and Wilder
When Wilder and Fury first fought in December of 2018, it was the summit of his redemption tour at the time to reclaim the boxing glory he had surrendered in 2016 in order to deal with his drug and alcohol use that cost him his boxing license. What he had left behind were the WBA, WBC, IBO, and IBF world heavyweight belts that he had won in his 2015 fight with Wladimir Klitschko, ending the German’s 10-year run of dominance. What he was after was the World Heavyweight Title that Wilder held.
Wins for Fury over Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta set up the title opportunity against Wilder, who was just coming off of a tenth consecutive successful defense of his belt with a victory over a previously unbeaten Luis Ortiz by TKO.
In their first fight, Fury didn’t look like a boxer who had taken any considerable time off, and Wilder looked as powerful as ever, despite weighing in over 40 pounds lighter than his competition.
Wilder put Fury on the mat a couple of times with his powerful punches, but Fury stayed in, even landing some good work of his own. When the final bell rang to end the fight, everyone was shocked to hear that the decision was split with an even draw, lending little satisfaction in the end, but allowing Wilder to retain his belt. It was a fight that many felt looked to have been controlled more by Wilder.
While the two took on other opponents, Wilder defended his rank twice more, including another effort from Ortiz, before Fury was back on top of the bill with him in February of 2020.

Wilder vs Fury 2 Recap
Held on the 22nd of February that year, Wilder vs Fury 2 was one of the last major events to take place before the COVID-19 pandemic changed the world as we know it, but the fight did not disappoint.
Both Wilder and Fury added nearly 20 pounds to their frames for the rematch, a fight that carried a clause for the loser of the bout to schedule a rematch if they so decided.
Moved from the Los Angeles location of their first fight, the second took place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in front of a packed house. Wilder came out quick as expected, but it was Fury who soon took over, making Wilder uncomfortable with notable shot after notable shot. The night went in full favor of Fury in the third round when his right hook connected directly with the ear of Wilder, causing bleeding and noticeably affecting the champion’s equilibrium.
Relying on the ropes to help him stay up over the next three rounds, Wilder hung tough. In the seventh round, however, after seeing Wilder get knocked around enough, his corner did what the fighter couldn’t do and tossed in the towel for him, with just over a minute left in the round. Fury was declared the winner by TKO, taking Wilder’s WBC heavyweight belt with him.

The current WBC World Heavyweight Title holder, Fury is the odds-favorite to win his third contest against Wilder per DraftKings. On Monday leading up to the fight, Fury received -295 to +230 Wilder, which is a decent lean toward the champion.
In the co-main event, it is a battle of the undefeateds with “The One and Only” Efe Ajagba going against Frank “The Cuban Flash” Sánchez. Ajagba, an Olympian in 2016, enters as the underdog in the sportsbooks, drawing +155 against Sánchez’s -185 in another heavyweight clash of the evening. Sánchez being the favorite is a strong move for the lesser-ranked fighter, and coming through on the designation could do him well in his title contention pursuits.
