Fury is the favourite to defeat the American and retain his WBC heavyweight title.

Their first fight back in 2018 was a draw, then Fury dominated their second fight en route to a seventh-round knockout that emphatically ended Wilder’s five-year reign as WBC champion. Neither man has fought since that fight 20 months ago,

Both men will be their heaviest ever fighting weights when they clash and at Saturday’s weigh-in, Fury once again taunted Wilder with a stream of expletives and threats of a gruesome beating.

Asked what the significance of his heaviest ever weight would be, Fury replied: “It means total obliteration of a dosser.

“Total annihilation. That’s what it means to me … I’m going to put him in the Royal Infirmary after this fight, don’t worry about that.”

Asked for his prediction on how he expected the fight to go, Fury added: “With him severely hurt on the floor, smashed to bits, like he’s been run over by an 18-wheeler truck.

“Last time he complained he had cracked skull and an injured arm. Well I can’t wait for Saturday night. I’m really going to severely damage him. He’ll be unrecognisable after the fight. I’ll send him home butchered.”

Earlier this week, Fury (30-0-1, 21 knockouts) had played down the significance of his fighting weight, insisting he had prepared properly.

However Fury’s failure to remove his T-shirt during Friday’s weigh-in earned taunts from Wilder’s supporters, with one member of the challenger’s entourage shouting pointedly: “You fat, dude!”

Fury meanwhile dismissed Wilder’s decision to change trainers following his defeat to the Brit last year. Wilder is now trained by former heavyweight Malik Scott, who was himself knocked in one round by Wilder back in 2014.

“It’s one s***house teaching another shithouse how to bomb,” Fury said. “Both a pack of losers. And they both ain’t worth a sausage.”

Wilder for his part declined to engage with Fury’s goading, instead emphasising his calmer approach and “joyful” training camp.

“Calmness is the key to the storm,” Wilder said. “I know that when I’m not calm, my mind is cloudy. And when you’re mind is cloudy it allows you to make bad decisions. But when you’re calm you can weather the storm.

“I have rejuvenated myself and reinvented myself. Redemption is upon us. I can’t wait to show the world what I’m all about.”

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will do battle for a third time on Saturday night.

The Gypsy King produced one of heavyweight boxing’s finest ever performances to destroy Wilder in February 2020 and become a world champion once again.

Fury dominated their Las Vegas rematch from the first bell, flooring his opponent several times before his corner threw in the towel.

His win had led to calls for him to face off against fellow British superstar Anthony Joshua in a huge undisputed title clash before AJ lost his belts to Oleksandr Usyk.

After much debate, a date and venue for that era-defining fight was set but Wilder’s representatives took legal action to invoke a clause in his contract with Fury to secure a trilogy clash.

A date for their third meeting was then made for this summer but that was put on hold with Fury sidelined after testing positive for COVID-19.

The fight has now been rearranged and is nearly here.

Fury and Wilder delivered a fiery final press conference ahead of their third fight. Although there was no final face-off, the heavyweights exchanged heated words as they clashed over cheating allegations.

There could be more fireworks as they meet at the weigh-in on Friday evening.
Fury vs Wilder 3: Date and time

The trilogy bout is all set for this weekend, Saturday, October 9.

It is taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with a full house of 20,000 fans set to be in attendance.

The undercard will get going at midnight UK time with the main event ring walks expected from 4am on Sunday morning.

The WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles will be on the line.

Joshua had hoped to face the winner of Fury v Wilder 3 but his dreams of unifying the heavyweight titles next year have been left in tatters after he was outclassed by Usyk.

Usyk was superb against AJ at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the two will now likely face off in a rematch in early 2022.

Fury vs Wilder 3: What has been said?

Fury: “This man is a real piece of work. A real bully excuse maker. Not a warrior or a man at all. Beat the mug two times.

“I’ve battered him and his trainer. But still talking s***. Real p***ies.”

He added: “I’m going to go all guns blazing, full out attack, all infantry, straight out the door from round one until I finish this.

“It’s either going to be me, or Wilder.”

Wilder: “I’m ready. I hope they are ready. I hope they have their priorities in line. Their game-plan, how they are going to approach the fight.

“I know he wasn’t doing well in camp. The young guys were piecing him up.

“I had a young guy from my camp who was piecing him up.

“[My] sparring has been amazing. I can’t say names but just know there have been a lot of people on the canvas.

“Hopefully Fury is confident to go through [with the fight] and not have anything go wrong.

“[He can expect] a reinvented Deontay Wilder. Something you’ve never seen before.

“In the time off we have done nothing but work, work, work. Even when my body rested, my mind was still at it.”

John Fury claims his son Tyson has a secret game plan which will ‘be the end of Deontay Wilder’.

“Tyson will send him into retirement this time,” Fury Sr said.

“He’ll never box after this, he’s going to get beat to pieces, smashed to pieces.

“Deontay Wilder this time, how can two wrongs produce a champion?

“Where are they going to get a win from? He got humiliated last time, let the whole of America down. He’s lucky to be boxing Tyson for a third time.

“He doesn’t deserve it, after that last performance, it should have been him [Fury] and AJ. This man is just a bump in the road.

“We’ve got the antidote for him, which I can’t discuss on camera, because we’re going to execute it on the night and that will be the end of Deontay Wilder.”

Meanwhile, Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn believe Fury will ‘cruise’ to victory once again.

Hearn told talkSPORT: “There’s a couple of things I’m not sure about heading into this fight. Obviously, the COVID situation; [did Fury have] COVID? Was it the camp situation wasn’t going great? I think his wife had a baby recently and there’s a few complications around that. The AJ fight fell through.

“I don’t think Fury is as well-prepared as he was going into [fight] number two. I’m not sure he needs to be 100 per cent to beat him. I just think he’s got to stay sharp, he’s got to stay switched on, but I see him winning the fight on points.

“I think he’ll cruise through. He’ll frustrate Wilder. It’s just a weird atmosphere out there without any Brits. First time around, the crowd was probably 80 or 90 per cent British. It’s not going to be that busy. You saw the PR activities, it’s a bit flat. I just don’t know who that will favour.

“I do think Tyson Fury is the big favourite in the fight and fingers crossed, he gets the business done.”

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder have taken to the scales and both weighed in at a career-heaviest size before clashing a in a heated exchange.

Fury weighed in at 277 pounds (125.65 kilograms) – 18 kilograms heavier than Wilder ahead of Sunday’s trilogy fight.

Wilder himself tipped the scales at his career heaviest, weighing 238 pounds (107.95 kilograms), suggesting he will have a new approach as the duo look to settle their rivalry.

PRESS CONFERENCE: Fury-Wilder chaos erupts after foul-mouthed rant

“The weight just came on,” Wilder said after weighing in.

“I wanted to look sexy, feel sexy and I taste sexy as well. I’m bench-pressing over 350 so no matter what weight he’s coming in, I can lay on my back and lift him. So it won’t be none of that rushing me and putting all this weight on me.”

“We have rejuvenated myself. We reinvented myself. Redemption is upon us. And I can’t wait to show the world what I’m all about. I’m reintroducing myself to the world as Deontay Wilder.”

Wilder’s dramatic transformation hinted at him trying to go for power to end the fight early but it is certainly a gamble, with not everyone convinced it will pay off.

“I can’t wait for Saturday night,” he said.

“I’m going to really severely damage him. He’ll be unrecognisable after the fight.

“Look at the state of him. His heart’s rattling now. His balls have shrunk up inside of him. There’s a man here that’s going to annihilate you, dosser. Me. The Gypsy King. Tyson Fury’s the name and f***ing fighting’s the game.”

Fury’s trainer Sugar Hill Steward had claimed earlier in the week that he would be 20 pounds heavier than his last fight, although he did not end up hitting that mark.

“It’s not going to be 300 pounds, it’s probably going to be like 290 or something but not 300 exactly,” Fury’s trainer Sugar Hill Steward told Vegas Insider.

“Heavier than last time by 20 pounds or so, why not? The bigger the better, the heavier the stronger. He’s training with that weight, he’s built up.

“It’s not like he’s just putting on fat, it’s building up muscles. The bigger the better, the heavier the stronger.

“We’re preparing for the best Deontay Wilder that he can be. Let’s just say he’s improved so much.”

Physically it certainly looks like a different Wilder to the one that Fury defeated in their last bout.

Regardless of what the numbers said, Fury himself declared earlier in the week that weight will have no say on the final result.

ULTIMATE GUIDE: Stage set for Fury-Wilder III as heavyweight crown goes on line

“It doesn’t matter – weight, size, anything like that to beat anybody,” Fury told Sky Sports.

“You can weigh 14 stone and knock a man spark out, a 25 stone man. It doesn’t really matter, the weight.

“I’m not aiming for a specific weight. I’m just eating plenty of food. I’ve trained hard enough and that’s it. Whatever I weigh in on the night, I weigh in at.

Fury previously weighed in at 273 pounds ahead of his second fight with Wilder, who was 231 pounds at the time – the heaviest mark of his professional career.

The pair’s first bout saw Fury weigh in at 256.5 pounds while Wilder was at 212.5 pounds after falling ill in the lead-up to the fight.

FULL WEIGH-IN RESULTS

Tyson Fury (277 pounds) vs Deontay Wilder (238 pounds), WBC heavyweight championship

Frank Sanchez (240 pounds) vs. Efe Ajagba (237 pounds), heavyweights

Adam Kownacki (258 pounds) vs. Robert Helenius (246 pounds), heavyweights

Jared Anderson (240 pounds) vs. Vladimir Tereshkin (256 pounds), heavyweights

Tyson Fury defends his WBC heavyweight boxing crown on Sunday when he faces Deontay Wilder for the third — and probably final — instalment of an acrimonious three-year ring rivalry.

A tortuous build-up marked by bitter legal wrangling, a Covid-19 outbreak and profanity-laced accusations of cheating comes to a head when Fury and Wilder clamber through the ropes at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

If their ill-tempered final press conference is any guide, the stage is set for another explosive contest between the undefeated Fury, the self-styled “Gypsy King” from Britain, and Wilder, the hard-hitting “Bronze Bomber” from Alabama.

It will be quite the showdown with both weighing in the heaviest in their careers, with Wilder in particular making an epic transformation.

Wilder told TMZ Sports that he’s going to knock out Fury in three rounds.

“Leave it up to my trainers, they believe five and under,” Wilder said.

“I’m gonna go with three, lesser than three.”

In response Fury hit right back: “Ya little b***h. Turn up and fight. Get me knocked out in three rounds ya little p***y. How about that for a message?”

But their fiery exchanges descended further earlier the week, with Wilder accusing his opponent of illegally tampering with his gloves after he stopped him in the pair’s rematch fight and stands by that claim.

“I don’t regret it,” he said at Thursday’s press conference.

“I go to my grave believing what I believe in. We can believe what we want. But the eyes don’t lie. It made me even hungrier than before.”

Fury, of course, was having none of it.

“He accused me of everything,” he fired back.

“Maybe he would have come out with one excuse it would have been believable. I beat him the first time after three years out of the ring.

“I absolutely obliterated him in the second fight. I hope you’ve got your excuse book, dosser.”
